1.  I was born 15 August 1912 in Pasedena California

2.  My parents are John and Julia McWilliams

3.  During WWII I joined the OSS because I was too tall to enlist in the WAC's


4.  I worked as a top secret researcher in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) and then China


5.  I met my husband, Paul, in Ceylon who also worked for the OSS

6.  In 1948 we moved to Paris where Paul was assigned as an exhibits officer with the US Information Agency


7.  While in Paris I attended Le Cordon Bleu Cooking school


8.  In 1951 I started teaching french cooking to American women from a school in my kitchen.  It was called L'école des trois gourmandes (The School of the Three Food Lovers)


9.  In 1961 my book - "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" was published to great acclaim


10.  My kitchen, designed by my husband, was the setting for three of my television shows. It is now on display at the National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.
