1. I was born on 4 June 1975 in Los Angeles, California to Jon and Marcheline
2. At 11 I attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, but I dropped out after 2 years and at 14 I took up a career in modeling and at one point wanted to be a funeral director
3. I played my first leading role in 1993 in the film (straight to video) Cyborg 2. After that I refused to audition for films, but got a couple of roles with good reviews in the mid 1990's.
4. In 1997 I won a Golden Globe award and was nominated for an Emmy in the film George Wallace.

6. It was visiting Cambodia while filming in 2001 that I saw the poverty and devastation war can bring. Following this I started visiting refugee camps around the world.
7. I have 3 biological children and 3 adopted children.
8. In 2004 I worked with Brad Pitt on Mr and Mrs Smith.
9. In 2011 I made my directorial feature debut with In the Land of Blood and Honey which I wrote after visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina
10. I currently focus my life on my humanitarian work, but continue acting in order to raise funds. 1/3 of my income goes to humanitarian projects
